Christmas

We had a great Christmas this year. Jake was able to take off a week for the holidays, and we really enjoyed having him around. We started off with a family party with all of Jake's family. We had dinner, opened presents, and then Grandpa and Jared had made some neat electrical conduit pipe chimes that we sat around and played. I forgot my camera, so I didn't get any pictures.

On Christmas Eve we went to Nevada to see my family.

This next picture is for Jake. He has been designing cell phone towers at work. There were a few along the freeway, so he wanted to stop so he could get a closer look, and take some pictures.


We got there just as it was beginning to snow, and then it snowed for the rest of the night and Christmas day. It was great. This was the first Christmas in a while that all of my family was able to be there. We had a great time together.
On Christmas Eve we acted out the Nativity. It was great because everyone got to dress up and be involved. We took a video, but it was kind of long so I won't post it. I wish that I would have got a picture of Jake. He was dressed up like one of the shepherds, and he looked pretty good. My brothers dressed up like the wise men. They were great.



Afterward we went to a ward/community Christmas party. The primary put on a program, and then Santa Clause came.



We had a great Christmas day visiting with family and lounging around by the fire while it snowed outside.



The next day we played outside in the snow. The kids loved burying Jake in the snow. Jake was determined to stay outside until William was ready to go in, but after a few hours he figured that William might not ever go inside. It was freezing outside, and William's cheeks were bright red, and his fingers were frozen, but he was having the time of his life playing outside with his dad. Jake finally convinced William to come inside.


The next few days were great for playing outside because it was so warm, so we were outside a lot.




Uncle Blaze helped us build a really big snowman.



We went sledding down our driveway which isn't very steep but it is really long, so if you can get a good start, you can go quite a ways.


We also went around the back roads with a sled tied to the back of my dad's truck. He went nice and slow for the kids, but when Jake and I were on the sled, he thought it was pretty fun to go over bumps real fast and try to get us to tip over... it was pretty fun, even with my brothers pelting me with snowballs the whole time.

What is the craziest thing that has happened to you while giving a talk at Church?

Yesterday I gave a talk at Church. My topic I was to talk on was Righteous Traditions. Things were going pretty good until I hear a beeping. I first thought it was a cell phone going off, so I continued. Well, when it didn't stop, and got louder I noticed this blinking light on the wall. I then realized the fire alarm was going off. The Bishop got up, I sat down, and some people went around the building to see if there was a fire, or if it was just some kid pulling the alarm. No one found any fire, so they turned off the alarm and then the Bishop asked me if I wanted to continue. So I got up to finish. Well about 3 minutes later, the fire alarms went off again. I looked at the Bishop, he asked me to sit down, and they went to check things out again, no fire found, they turned off the alarms, and the Bishop asked me if I would like to finish. So I got up and finished.

After I was done, I sat down, and looked a Jake, and he was laughing. After Sacrament meeting I asked him what he was laugh at and he said he was just thinking of all the funny things I could have gotten up and said each time the fire alarm went off. I didn't say anything that funny. I can't just think of things spur of the moment like that. So, what would you have said or done?

Temple Square

This past weekend Micah, Christiann, Jackson, and Makenna came out to visit us. We had a great time and on Saturday night we went to Temple Square to see the lights with them and my other brothers and sisters. It was snowing while we were up there so it added to the atmosphere. Seeing the lights at Temple Square always makes the Christmas season complete.





Congratulations to Lindsay and Adam!!!!! They got engaged on Saturday morning. Adam sent her on a scavenger hunt with a princess theme. At the beginning of it he gave her the first glass slipper and then at the end of the hunt he put the other glass slipper on her and proposed. He did the princess theme because they are going to Disney World for their honeymoon. Welcome to the family Adam. We are excited for you guys.

This past week Hannah was able to go to the "Nutcracker" with Grandma and Grandpa Proctor, Isaac and Taniel. She had so much fun and loved every moment of it. This reminded me of when Hannah was about 18 months old and she saw the Nutcracker on TV. She was either glued to the TV watching it, or dancing around. For the next few months she would ask for her graham cracker. I always thought she was talking about the cookie, and I would just tell her we didn't have any. After a while, she would get really frustrated with me when she would ask for her graham cracker, and finally I asked her to show me what she wanted. She took me into our toy room and pointed to her little tutu. I realized that she had never asked for a graham cracker, she was trying to say Nutcracker so I would get her little tutu out.

Brooklyn update

I don't really post many pictures of Brooklyn, so I decided to write a post just for her. She is now 8 1/2 months old, getting her third tooth, and is finally saying "mama". She has said "dada" for a few months now. She must be daddy's little girl.



She has been content to just sit and watch everything going on, so it has taken her a while to move around that much, or even roll over. Even now, she can roll over, but won't do it very much. She is beginning to discover her knees, and before long, I am sure she will be crawling everywhere. So now, I am enjoying that she just sits there and plays because I know that once she begins to crawl, things will get a lot more crazy around here.


Whenever Brooklyn is sad or tired she does this trill with her tongue. I thought I would get a clip of it because the trill is pretty cute.

Thanksgiving was great this year. We started out our vacation going to the free day at Hogle Zoo. We had tons of fun. I was only able to get one picture, then my camera's battery went dead. We were a little sad that the white alligator went back to Louisiana (I think it was Louisiana) for the winter. Hannah's favorite animal to see at the Zoo was the zebras and the hippos. My favorite thing was that Jake was able to take off the afternoon to come with us.
(Everyone should ckeck out free day at hogle zoo. It is the last Wednesday of Nov-Feb.)
On Thanksgiving we went and spent the day at Jake's families house. It was great to be able to spend the day with them.
On Friday I experianced black friday for the first time. I went out with Jake's sisters at 4:30 in the morning. It was a lot of fun, except for the fact that I was so tired because Brooklyn only slept about 4 hours the night before. She had a bad cold. I did however get more sleep than Jake. He was up most of the time with Brooklyn. She finally went to sleep about 1:30 am and than woke up again at 3:30. I got up with her at that point, so I was all ready to go at 4:30 am. We went to Shopko and got some great deals on some games and towels. Shopko was not that crowded at all. As we drove past Walmart, Best Buy, and Toys R us, I was glad that I was not in their lines waiting. They were a lot longer than Shopko's lines and it was raining.
I don't have anymore pictures of the weekend because I never got around to charging the battery. We had a really good time hanging out with our family, and it was nice that Jake had some time off work to play with us. I can't wait for Christmas now.

I love fall time. I love seeing all of the leaves change colors. I always point out to my kids how beautiful the trees look, so now whenever William notices a tree with the leaves changing colors he says, "Ooooh, that tree is so beautiful." It was fun to have leaves to rake this year. Hannah and William especially loved to play in the leaves.
