Oh how time flies

I have been dreading this day for almost five years, Kindergarten registration day. I got the registration packet a little while ago and it just sat on my table. I knew once I filled the papers out, it would be the beginning of school and the end of my little kids being home all the time. I really enjoy my kids being home. I love them running around, having fun playing together and being around all of the time. I will miss Hannah not being home all day every day, but I also know that once I get used to this, and all of my kids are in school, I will enjoy the few hours each day to myself.
I finally got around to filling the packet out a few nights ago, and we went today to see her new school and to register her. I found out that it was not so bad. It helps that Hannah is so excited to go to school. Every time we have passed the school she talks about it. We got all of the paper work figured out and then we went to go look at where her classes will be. There was class going on so she was able to see the kids and the teachers inside. William was wishing that he was going to kindergarten and I don't know how I am going to hold him off for two more years. I am now feeling better about things. It is not as bad as I expected. I will probably cry on the way home from dropping her off on the first day of class, but for now I am good.

Hannah has gotten to be such a cute girl, and is such a great help to me. I am finding that she is a lot like me and a lot of her mannerisms remind me of me when I was little. I enjoy seeing this most of the time, the other part of the time it causes problems between us. Sometimes I wonder how my mom dealt with my attitudes when I was younger. Hannah loves to dance. She could dance all day. When she dances she has to wear her swimming suit, and church tights. Then she feels like she is dressed good enough to dance ballet. She has some pretty great dance moves. When William sees Hannah get into her swimming suit, then he has to go get his swimming suit and dance. So it seems these past few days, even though it is still February, and there is still a little bit of snow on the ground my kids run around in their swimming suits.

Hannah's Valentine Party

Last Friday Hannah had her Valentine Party at Preschool. It was fun getting her ready for her first Valentine party. It was a pajama party and by chance she had some heart pajamas, so she was really excited to wear them to the party. She also enjoyed coming home with a bag full of candy.


We had a great Valentine's Day as well. Isaac and Taniel got married. We enjoyed going to the Timpanogos Temple and Thanksgiving Point for the reception. We are very happy for you guys, Isaac and Taniel. Welcome to the family Taniel.

The Circus

On Monday night we were able to go to the circus with Brian, Michelle, Heber, and Jack. We had a lot of fun. William's favorite part was watching the big elephants and the lion and tigers jumping through fire. Hannah's favorite part was the girls in the pink dresses that were dancing and swinging on the ropes way up high. She also enjoyed watching the bear. They both liked eating the cotton candy. This was the first circus that we had been to and it was fun to see all of the animals doing tricks, and how amazing (or crazy) some people are when they are juggling fire, swinging way up on the trapeze, or doing rope tricks 30 feet in the air.

10 months old

Brooklyn is now 10 months old. She has grown so fast and each day I try to take a moment and enjoy her being so little and just rock and cuddle her, but it seems like she is growing right out of her little baby stage so fast. The first time she rolled over was at five months but was never that interested in rolling until about 8 months. She then figured out she could roll to the things she wanted to play with. When she was 9 months she started to crawl and now loves the little bit of independence that crawling gives her. She is such a sweet, happy little girl. When she gets excited about something her whole body just shakes with excitement. She is so much fun to have in our family and Hannah and William just adore her. These past 2 months she has had her share of sicknesses. It started Thanksgiving when she started to get sick with a cold, which turned into walking pneumonia and two ear infections. After recovering from that she had a few days of feeling good and then she got sick again with another ear infection and Bronchitis. So now after another round of medication she is doing much better and is so happy. I forgot how happy she could be because she hasn't felt good for the past two months. We are very happy to have the old Brooklyn back and hope that she can get through the next few months without any other sicknesses.

I love being a mom

I remember when I was little and I would occasionally go around doing secret things for my mom like cleaning my room with out her asking, doing the dishes, or things like that. I had completely forgotten about that until today...
This morning Hannah was being a big help to me. Brooklyn was fussy because she is not feeling well and I was trying to take care of her. I heard Hannah in the back ground say to William,"Hey William, lets go clean up the toy room and surprise mom." (The toy room was a BIG mess) William was not as excited about it as Hannah and said, "I don't want to," and continued to play. Well, Hannah went into the toy room and said, "mom, don't look", she shut the door, and was busy for a few minutes. When she was done she opened the door, told me to shut my eyes, and then told me when to look. When I opened my eyes she said, "surprise mom. The toy room is all clean. Come and look." Yes, is was all clean and she had done a great job. This got me so excited because most of the time she is not that excited to clean her toys up... and now... I am on the other end of the kids cleaning up to surprise mom game. I love it!!!

Christmas

We had a great Christmas this year. Jake was able to take off a week for the holidays, and we really enjoyed having him around. We started off with a family party with all of Jake's family. We had dinner, opened presents, and then Grandpa and Jared had made some neat electrical conduit pipe chimes that we sat around and played. I forgot my camera, so I didn't get any pictures.

On Christmas Eve we went to Nevada to see my family.

This next picture is for Jake. He has been designing cell phone towers at work. There were a few along the freeway, so he wanted to stop so he could get a closer look, and take some pictures.


We got there just as it was beginning to snow, and then it snowed for the rest of the night and Christmas day. It was great. This was the first Christmas in a while that all of my family was able to be there. We had a great time together.
On Christmas Eve we acted out the Nativity. It was great because everyone got to dress up and be involved. We took a video, but it was kind of long so I won't post it. I wish that I would have got a picture of Jake. He was dressed up like one of the shepherds, and he looked pretty good. My brothers dressed up like the wise men. They were great.



Afterward we went to a ward/community Christmas party. The primary put on a program, and then Santa Clause came.



We had a great Christmas day visiting with family and lounging around by the fire while it snowed outside.



The next day we played outside in the snow. The kids loved burying Jake in the snow. Jake was determined to stay outside until William was ready to go in, but after a few hours he figured that William might not ever go inside. It was freezing outside, and William's cheeks were bright red, and his fingers were frozen, but he was having the time of his life playing outside with his dad. Jake finally convinced William to come inside.


The next few days were great for playing outside because it was so warm, so we were outside a lot.




Uncle Blaze helped us build a really big snowman.



We went sledding down our driveway which isn't very steep but it is really long, so if you can get a good start, you can go quite a ways.


We also went around the back roads with a sled tied to the back of my dad's truck. He went nice and slow for the kids, but when Jake and I were on the sled, he thought it was pretty fun to go over bumps real fast and try to get us to tip over... it was pretty fun, even with my brothers pelting me with snowballs the whole time.

What is the craziest thing that has happened to you while giving a talk at Church?

Yesterday I gave a talk at Church. My topic I was to talk on was Righteous Traditions. Things were going pretty good until I hear a beeping. I first thought it was a cell phone going off, so I continued. Well, when it didn't stop, and got louder I noticed this blinking light on the wall. I then realized the fire alarm was going off. The Bishop got up, I sat down, and some people went around the building to see if there was a fire, or if it was just some kid pulling the alarm. No one found any fire, so they turned off the alarm and then the Bishop asked me if I wanted to continue. So I got up to finish. Well about 3 minutes later, the fire alarms went off again. I looked at the Bishop, he asked me to sit down, and they went to check things out again, no fire found, they turned off the alarms, and the Bishop asked me if I would like to finish. So I got up and finished.

After I was done, I sat down, and looked a Jake, and he was laughing. After Sacrament meeting I asked him what he was laugh at and he said he was just thinking of all the funny things I could have gotten up and said each time the fire alarm went off. I didn't say anything that funny. I can't just think of things spur of the moment like that. So, what would you have said or done?
